Big congrats to my awesome clients on their very first home! These Rental Girl renters turned TRG buyers fell in love with a beautiful modern home built in 2014 in a great pocket of Highland Park and knew immediately it was “the one”. Now they’ll be close to the action on Figueroa and York as well as everything in Eagle Rock and Pasadena. Can’t wait to see what they do with all this wonderful space!
Huge congrats to my buyer on this incredible Glenoaks Canyon Spanish home! What a score – we looked for months, seeing every home in a 15 mile radius but none checked all the boxes like this one.
This buyer wanted a character home with enough space to host guests, but not so much space as to be high-maintenance to furnish and maintain. He wanted a great pocket with tree-lined streets and a somewhat central location, something with hardwood floors throughout, and most importantly (and surprisingly most difficult to find) a home with a large private grassy backyard for his 2 very rambunctious dogs to play in. You’d be surprised how many homes in the $900,000 price-range have very little yard space, an abundance of concrete (not good for doggy hips), no fences, or no privacy. This yard issue was proving to be more challenging than we thought!
I reached out to some other local agents and found out that this lovely character home – which seemed like it could be perfect on paper – was hitting the market in 2 weeks. I was able to arrange a showing before it went on the market and my buyer immediately fell in love. We wrote an offer within the next hour, opening escrow the next day and closing in less than a month. Win-win for everyone involved – and just look at that yard!
I popped in last weekend to check in and see how things were going and we sat in his new magical backyard, listening to birds chirp and watching the pups play on the beautiful green turf he has since had installed. I’ll have to go back and grab a photo to post in this blog as the yard is somehow even prettier now than it was before & definitely worth showing off.
Perched on an Elysian Heights hillside, you can ditch your gym membership because your buns of steel come free with purchase of this 1bd, 1ba, 573 sq ft stair street home. Sure, it’s a little short on square footage (let’s call it “cozy”) and you have to climb a few flights to get there, but finding anything short of a tear-down in this neighborhood anywhere near this price has been impossible for years so this will be a great value for the right person. Hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, a vintage kitchen, pedestal sink and clawfoot tub in the bathroom, xeriscaped front yard, and a tiered backyard with a deck make this a perfect little artsy hideaway.

There’s so much more than meets the eye in this 2bd, 1ba, 876 sq ft Highland Park craftsman bungalow. Beyond the original oak floors, built-ins, fireplace, and quartz countertops you’ll have options galore with a bonus basement guest studio (complete with kitchenette and bathroom) AND a detached 1bd mother-in-law unit in the converted garage. Make income through Air Bnb, host friends and family from out of town, work from home, or do all three at the same time. Each space has been updated enough to be completely useable as-is but I think part of the fun of this gem would be getting to add personal design touches to each of the 3 spaces. Highland Park is your oyster!

Gleaming engineered hardwood floors, subway tile, copper plumbing, and a fenced-in yard complete with apple, peach, nectarine, and clementine trees (plus check out that great patio!) aren’t the only delightful offerings in this 2bd, 2ba Highland Park craftsman home. You know what they say; location location location, and if you’ve been paying attention you know that Figueroa is blowing up with new coffee shops, yoga studios, bars and restaurants, and even a new bowling alley. This home puts you right in the middle of the action, not to mention just a couple of blocks off the Metro Gold Line. With a walk score of 83 you’ll be able to ditch your car and use the garage as your home office – oh so modern!

This Eagle Rock 2bd, 1.5ba Arts & Crafts bungalow was one of the first projects by Habhouse and boasts a newer roof, retrofitted foundation, copper plumbing, central heat and A/C, custom handmade light fixtures, hardwood floors and so much more. The master bedroom opens to a deck and beyond the big flat green backyard (perfect for evening dinner parties and urban farming) you’ll find a huge 400 sq ft home studio space with lofted ceilings and custom accordion doors. Close to the new Sprouts location as well as all the shops and restaurants on Eagle Rock Blvd, York, and Colorado.
